DESCRIPTION: Length up to 8mm. A beetle rarely seen unless sweep neeting due to its green-colouration that really does take some picking out. The head and elytra are all green and the insect sits flush against leaf surfaces so as to leave no peripheral shadow.
The elytra sometimes has small dark triangular spots around the scutellum and also a small dark spot near the suture. The larvae
have two tail-spikes that can be used to carry dead skins and droppings. The spikes are retained by the pupa and are flicked forward if disturbed. DISTRIBUTION: Widely distributed in England and Wales but more localised in Scotland. HABITAT: In and around areas where Creeping Thistle is found in abundance. PERIOD: April to October. |
